If anyone plans on racing with the F-7's on the track don't be afraid to try a 9 pinion. The track is very fast and you won't be letting off much!

I agree with both points - it's an amazingly fast track and I'd start with 9/28 gearing - adjust as needed to keep the heat reasonable.

Is there much interest from the northern states in joining us on the 28th???

As of right now I have to be at work for 3 p.m. but I will see if I can work some magic. Might be a little close this month since I still have to register the truck and I just got pulled over again last night  !

Here you go Larry,

Memory Lane Slot Car Club

Track:
166' Gerding Engelman

Are you racing right now?

We have been running the F-7's motors. Most of the Retro East run either this or the TSR motor which has a more torque than the F-7. Both are used primarily on the lower power tracks such as 12-12.5 volts. The proslot doesn't really show an advantage at the lower voltage but starts to wake up at 13 volts. I tried a proslot at the lower voltage and was not impressed with over the F-7 but try it and find out especially if you already have it. Worst case buy a F-7 if the proslot doesn't seem to be working. Just don't break it in on the power supply for more than a few minutes and definitely don't dip in water, the brushes will disintegrate.

Haven't race any in the last3/4 years plan to do the yankee usra on 4/6 as most of my racing during the 70's was wing cars.in the 80's got into rc racing which I still do . When slots got big again in the 90's did NECC @ wing racing then started a business in 2002 an didn't have much time Plus the new punch bowl tracks where a big turn off. I race with Tony P in the 70's an heared he was racing vintage cars but had no idea what it was about till Feb this year when I when to rapid raceway to get some pratice for there yankee usra race . I pick up a Scale auto racing an saw Tonys retro race reports. really like what I saw an gave Tony a call to get some info. I just need to finish building a car free time still problem. Thanks for the info Larry

The first wingcar body I ever bought at Joel's Race Place (circa 1975 or 76) was an O S with the header that read "Body Painted by Labounty". Are you one and the same?

Larry,

I've exchanged e-mails with Dane, since we're using the IRRA rules, a sealed pro-slot motor is legal. As Dom mentioned, everyone in New England is using the Falcon 7 motor, it's probably because both Modelville Hobby and Need For Speed run the retro cars at a slightly reduced voltage and we're emphasizing the chassis aspect of the class, not the motors. At Memory Lanes, Dane is planning on running at full power (he just purchased new power supplies for his track...) so the Pro Slot motor might have an advantage.

If you can't make the race at ML, we're racing most Tuesday's at Modelville Hobby in Ashland, MA (all except the first Tuesday of the month...). Where's your home base?
